Growing up in a household with parents that were both professional musicians, I was exposed to the fine arts from a young age. I attended concerts around the world and found inspiration in studying architecture and playing the piano. This translated into my completion of degrees in piano performance and civil engineering with an architecture focus. After graduation, I managed various scopes on multi-million-dollar construction projects for a major commercial general contractor. This extensive experience provided me first-hand experience with building systems, engineered scopes and technical drawings, managing projects for on time delivery within a budget, and working well with contractors of all backgrounds.

Many of my earliest memories include tagging along with my mother as we excitedly searched for the fabric section that was in nearly every department store in the 1960s. My mother was a magician with a sewing machine. She made all of the clothes for her family of five children and chuckled with the knowledge that she could make a boy’s collared button down shirt in only ninety minutes! She also regularly reupholstered our furniture, made pleated curtains, and took great pride in designing and establishing a beautiful home. She had style and dressed with flair. My sister and I grew up engaged watching as she began the process of selecting a pattern and choosing beautiful coordinating fabric. As I grew a little older, she taught me to use her sewing machine and I made all of my own clothes. This is a lifelong skill that has been immeasurably valuable and satisfying for me. I no longer make my own clothes but believe these simple activities shared with my mother sparked my love of design and the process of intentionally combining color and texture. My own training was as a professional classically trained violinist. I have been extraordinarily fortunate to have been in many of the most glorious concert halls in the world, both ancient and contemporary. Experiencing the enmeshment of architecture, art and music has been an inspiration for me to fill my own environment with spaces of beauty and grace.
